Our Ministry Team

Sue Smith, M.S.W, D.Min.

Sue serves as co-founder and Executive Director of LUCHA Ministries, Inc. In this position, Sue coordinates the organization’s projects and services and oversees its financial operation. A trained social worker, she is involved in social service and counseling ministries. Sue may be reached at suesmith@luchaministries.org.

Greg Smith, Ph.D.
Greg serves as co-founder and Administrative Coordinator of LUCHA Ministries, Inc., providing administrative and programming oversight. He also assists in leading training conferences for English-speaking groups on Latin American culture and customs, and networks with area Latino and non-Latino churches. Victor Gómez, M.Div., Th.M.
Victor serves as co-founder and coordinator of LUCHA Ministries, Inc. in support of its social, spiritual and community development ministries. As a native of Mexico City, Mexico, Victor helps to ensure that the programs and services of LUCHA Ministries are culturally relevant and appropriate to the Latino context in Virginia. Heather Gómez, B.A.
Heather serves as co-founder and coordinator of LUCHA Ministries, Inc. She networks with community partners to provide support for the organization’s services and programs. Heather also brings her expertise in refugee and resettlement ministry to bear on meeting the needs of Fredericksburg’s immigrant population. Aida Kent
Aida works for LUCHA Ministries as a Social Work Case Manager, a position supported by a grant from the Rappahannock United Way. She serves clients in crisis situations by coordinating food deliveries, assessing physical, social and family needs, and referring clients to community agencies as needed. Aida also assists LUCHA Ministries in the planning and coordination of activities on behalf of the Latino community.

Maribel Díaz
Maribel focuses on outreach to Latino families through a variety of programs, activities and individual contact. She assists in maintaining office files and records, as well as aids in the planning and coordination of activities for the Latino community.

Mary Zane Morton (2010 Social Work Intern)
Mary Zane currently interns with LUCHA Ministries, focusing on outreach to Latino families through individual contact as well as its programs and activities. Mary Zane will graduate with a Master of Social Work from Baylor University in May 2010.

Jane Probst (2010 Social Work Intern)
Jane is currently interning with LUCHA Ministries, in partnership with Fredericksburg Counseling Services, to assist in the delivery of mental health and social services to the Latino community. Jane will graduate with a Masters of Social Work from the School of Social Work at Virginia Commonwealth University in May 2010.
